Anaheim’s Fall Festival and Halloween Parade Tradition Continues

10.26.22

The Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade began on October 30th, 1924. The inaugural event featured a costume contest, a mutt parade, street dancing, and an evening parade led by Grand Marshals and baseball legends Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson. The parade grew to such a spectacle that the Los Angeles Times once heralded it as the “biggest Halloween parade in the nation,” with reports of 150,000 spectators on the sidelines, and was televised on KTLA in the late 1960s.

And, now Anaheim’s Fall Festival and Halloween Parade return to in-person festivities for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, October 29. The beloved spooky celebrations have fun for the whole family with live entertainment, delicious food, games, and a Halloween costume contest with awesome prizes. There’s even a costume contest for your furry four-legged friends as part of the Fall Festival Howl-O-Ween Pooch Pawrade!

The city’s cherished mascot, Andy Anaheim will lead the parade of nostalgic floats and performances. The centrally located Halloween Tree is decorated with thousands of orange lights and holds exactly 99 jack o’lanterns, recognizing the Halloween Parade's 99th anniversary. For nearly a century, the festival and parade have brought the community of Anaheim together.

Goodwill of Orange County ‘s Newly Renovated Flagship Santa Ana Store

10.24.22

Goodwill of Orange County just reopened its newly refreshed and modernized flagship store in Santa Ana. A celebration was held to commemorate the reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a mariachi band playing live music, gift card giveaways to the line of guests awaiting the opening, and more.

The 24,000-square-foot store is part of the organization’s main campus and it's the most visited and highest-volume thrift store located in the county. Goodwill anticipates a 10% increase in both sales and traffic because of the extensive renovation.

The store refresh includes all-new fitting rooms, fresh paint, a revamped front entrance, and a relocated cash wrap featuring Goodwill’s signature reclaimed wood backdrop. Construction kicked off in July and finished earlier this month.

This store originally opened back in the 1970s and has not been updated since a footprint expansion back in 2008. Goodwill invested in the remodel to elevate its main campus flagship location to the modern and engaging thrift shopping experience seen throughout its 23 stores across Orange County.

Customers will find an elevated shopping experience and a one-of-a-kind assortment of thousands of donated goods, including clothing for all ages, accessories, home décor, electronics, furniture, and more.

Goodwill’s retail outposts generate the revenue needed to operate its mission to provide critical programs and services to Orange County residents who face barriers to employment, including individuals with disabilities and veterans, to find and keep sustainable jobs. For every dollar Goodwill of Orange County spends, more than 92 cents further the nonprofit’s mission to connect people with opportunities that change their lives.

Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Goodwill is currently hiring with openings across all departments throughout the county. Interested applicants can apply online at ocgoodwill.org/careers.
